Romain Attanasio (Fortinet – Best Western), 14th

At 14h36 on Thursday 13th June, Romain Attanasio completed the course of the second edition of the New York Vendée - Les Sables d'Olonne after 14 days, 18 hours and 36 minutes of racing. After a slightly complicated start to the race due to a series of small errors, the skipper of Fortinet - Best Western never managed to catch up with the leading fleet despite his best efforts. He finished in 14th position, a position which was clearly below his expectations, even if he can be satisfied with having won the Liberty Race as a prelude to the transatlantic race.

"From this race, I'm going to remember all the images of New York. We sailed with our partners there and it was a great trip! After that, the race was atypical from every point of view, the offshore start, the impossible weather... Every time we arrived in front of a closed door, we headed for another door which closed in turn. It was crazy! It's good training, but you go crazy at the same time. I wondered if I had a genie above my head laughing at me!  But it allowed me to work on myself. Now I'm going to prepare for the Vendée Globe, which is the most important event to come. I think I'm going to try to have a calm summer, so that I can arrive refreshed!"
