Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa), 7th

Winner of two successive solo Transats within six months, the Rétour à La Base back last December 2023 then The Transat CIC last month, Yoann Richomme crossed the finish line of the second edition of the New York Vendée – Les Sables d'Olonne this Tuesday morning June 11 at 07:11:19hrs local time (05:11:19hrs UTC) to take seventh place. The solo skipper of Paprec – Arkéa, fighting within sight of Sam Davies for a large majority of the race, finally conceded 6th place to the British sailor in the last 40 miles, losing out by just 22 minutes on the line. Richomme’s elapsed time is 12d 11h 11min 19s and he finishes 2d 07h 26m 49s behind winner Charlie Dalin.

He said: 

“I’m glad I finished! It was a longer transatlantic crossing than I had expected. We have now done four transatlantic crossings in the space of six months and so it is a bit of a strain on the system now.. This one was more complicated, I had less success, the conditions were less favorable for the boat. It was more difficult in terms of speed. I learned a lot of things and overall it’s a great lesson. And it is still a good result in a fleet which has such strength in depth. These are particularly difficult races to win, we have to accept that it is more difficult to win sometimes and that will help us to keep making progress.”
